Activity/Action | Impact | Comments |
Participation in the dance festival 2024
| Raised confidence, an opportunity our pupils wouldn't usually be given and pupils showed determination in working towards an end goal. | This will go ahead again next year. |
Boys participation in the local authority's football league
| Children given the opportunity to participate in a competitive event against other children in the local authority. | This will be expanded next year, Ridgeway will enter a boys football team and a girls football team into the local authority's league. |
Sports leaders leading sport days for nursery, reception, KS1 and Lower key stage 2. | Developing the ability to lead children of different ages and to develop their communication styles. | This to be expanded next year to include sports leaders organising orienteering activities for key stage one pupils. |
External sports coaching delivered as CPD for staff and to ensure pupils receive the highest quality PE lessons | Increased motivation for pupils, staff confidence increased as a result of observing skilled PE coaches. Pupils received the highest quality coaching, to help target obesity levels. | Coaching to continue and to expand to include cricket led sessions for CPD for key stage one staff as this was identified as an area of weakness for staff confidence. |
Additional swimming lessons offered for year 6 pupils who could not swim 25m by the end of Autumn term. | An increase in the amount of children who could swim 25m efficiently and confidently. | As a coastal town, it is important that we ensure children are given the maximum opportunities to enable them to swim 25m and they can keep themselves safe in dangerous water situations. |
Investment in sports equipment, particularly to enhance the gymnastics curriculum. | Buying specialist gymnastic equipment has meant we can provide an enhanced gymnastics curriculum and teach pupils a variety of movements/skills in a safe way. | This can be a one time purchase. |
